Following an update of Locus WMS, Varo, a specialist in the import and export of do-it-yourself articles, is ready to sell articles via e-commerce. The Lier-based company saw its e-commerce sales grow and asked Centric for support. The update enables Varo to combine web orders with regular orders. This makes the organization fully future-proof.
Hybrid
The Lier-based company has a layout based on different pick units. This hybrid solution makes it possible to supply all types of Varo customers from one distribution center.
Hervé Anthonis, logistics manager at Varo: "To be able to quickly anticipate a strongly growing e-commerce market in the future, we were looking for a hybrid solution that would allow us to serve both our retail and e-commerce customers from the same warehouse. We found this solution in the latest version of Locus WMS."
From pallets to boxes
Varo was previously fully set up for pallet deliveries, but had to deal with an increase in requests via the webshop. At the moment Varo still delivers 80 percent pallets and 20 percent boxes, but the company expects a rapid turnaround.
