Centric wins European NS tender

Centric has held on to its contract for management and support of the payment systems at the Dutch Railways (NS) after winning a European tender. This encompasses the payment systems of approximately 300 NS retail locations.

NS will be signing a framework agreement with Centric for a term of 48 months. NS will have the option of extending this agreement twice for a period of 24 months each time. The agreement has been awarded to the tenderer with the best price/quality ratio.

Scope of the services

The initial scope of this European tender covers the management and maintenance of the installed payment systems. Centric offers Managed Services for Retail, a package of services that ensures the highest availability of retail technology at the lowest possible cost. The management scope may be expanded in the future as new IT resources (such as 4G routers and charging stations) are procured and added to the installed base.

Ferry Kalfsvel, Managing Director for Retail at Centric: ‘We see this continuation of our contract with NS as confirmation of their satisfaction with the services we have developed specifically for retail in recent years. Centric knows the dynamics of retail like no other, and shows that customers appreciate this too.’

Choosing Centric

When it comes to the maintenance of the payment systems in shops and bike facilities, NS wants to work with a supplier who can effortlessly handle the geographic distribution and dynamics of the work and who delivers quality service. NS also prefers to limit the number of parties visiting the stations by outsourcing management to one and the same supplier.

Dyone de Bie, IT Manager Stations and Testing at NS: ‘Suppliers play an important role in us realising our objectives, in innovation and in making services and products more sustainable. This is why we like to have a good working relationship with our partners and challenge them to come up with innovative and sustainable solutions. Centric has proven itself in the field of IT services in recent years, with their proactive management of the systems and with their experience in retail. NS Stations has a large number of locations, meaning national coverage is a must. The Managed Services for Retail is a great solution for this.’
