Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013: cooperation means sharing information

The extent to which cooperation is successful depends on how efficiently information is shared. Both within and beyond your organisation.

With SharePoint 2013 you can encourage information exchange and facilitate cooperation between employees, branch locations, project teams and business partners via portals. This lets you create a virtual meeting place where, in addition to information sharing, documents are also processed and stored in a central location. Very efficiently and very securely as well.

Centric implements the following SharePoint solutions:

  • SharePoint Portals: an online environment for efficient information exchange, regardless of time or place.
  • SharePoint Document Management: for a clear document stream.
  • SharePoint Workflow: for streamlining your processes with the aid of workflows. We recommend Workflow Nintex for application of advanced workflows.
  • SharePoint Business Intelligence: for insight into the information you need to make the right decisions.
  • Internet solutions: your business card for the world at large.

A single truth

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 supports all intranet, extranet and web applications in one integrated platform. The solution brings together structured data (from a database) and unstructured data (from Microsoft Office for example) to ultimately present ‘a single truth’.

SharePoint functionality

The functions of SharePoint 2013 can be categorised as follows:

Sites: SharePoint 2013 lets you easily establish a site structure for an intranet, extranet or internet environment. You can select from a variety of different site types. Launch a blog in just five minutes or set up a site for information sharing in your team with just a few clicks of the mouse. Centric has also developed a number of site types itself. Communities: SharePoint 2013 improves staff cooperation. For example, it makes it easy to find co-workers based on expertise, to share information via team sites, wikis and blogs, or to integrate with Microsoft Lync, Office, Exchange Server and others.

Content: SharePoint 2013 provides you with support for almost anything related to the management of website content. This can include revision control, setting retention periods or automatic sorting of documents, depending on metadata. These processes are fully integrated with Microsoft’s Office suite.

Search: SharePoint 2013 offers an extensive and adjustable search engine. This search engine makes it easy to find all the relevant information fast (such as employee contact info). SharePoint’s search functionality can be configured in such a way that your ERP system, for example, will also be searched for relevant information. This enables you to search beyond the data which is stored in SharePoint.

Insights: SharePoint Insights provides insight into data from databases, reports and your own business applications. That way you can both collect and structure your business data (Business Intelligence).

Composites: with SharePoint Composites you can integrate your own solutions with SharePoint. This lets you centrally manage and share your Access and Excel solutions, for example. You are also able to define your own workflows and automate your business processes. This can include workflows for time-off requests, sick leave and document approval.

Standard solutions

Centric also develops its own solutions, based on SharePoint 2013:

  • General Centric solutions for SharePoint
  • SharePoint solutions for local government

SharePoint and the New Way of Working

In combination with other Microsoft solutions (Lync and Office 2010), SharePoint offers an excellent technical basis for implementing the New Way of Working.

SharePoint and Dynamics CRM

While SharePoint has its strong points in content management, among other things, Dynamics CRM’s strong points are in data management in the sales, marketing and service fields. Thus the two solutions complement each other perfectly. For Centric this is a reason to bring the knowledge of both domains together in a single team.
